Biography

Enoc J. Basilio received his Bachelor of Science from the Universidad Nacional de
Ingeniería (UNI) in Peru, where he developed foundational expertise in underground fluid
dynamics and subsurface engineering. Later, he pursued graduate studies at the
University of Alberta in Canada, earning a Master of Science in Mining and Petroleum
Engineering. During this period, his research focused on multiphase flow in porous media.
Enoc Basilio subsequently joined the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology
(KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, where he completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Energy
Resources and Petroleum Engineering in 2025. His doctoral research centered on carbon
sequestration and CO2 thermodynamics, encompassing the development of novel optical
and pressure-decay methods for measuring CO2 diffusion coefficients, the design of
microfluidic and high-pressure experimental setups, and the formulation of physics-
based models for conformance control in subsurface reservoirs.

In 2026, Enoc Basilio joined the research group of Professor William Roberts at KAUST as
a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where his work has expanded into the frontier of low-
carbon energy systems. His current research is primarily concerned with the development of Cryogenic Carbon Capture technologies and the design of Ultra-Efficient CO2 Turbines, two complementary research areas aimed at unlocking scalable, thermodynamically optimized pathways for carbon management.
